Mrs. Heard

Join us in celebrating Mrs. Heard, a dedicated and vibrant Marblehead Elementary teacher who brings joy, learning, and community spirit to her 3rd-grade classroom.

Two Decades of Dedication

Mrs. Heard is no stranger to the Capistrano Unified School District, having been a part of it as both a student and a teacher. With 22 years of teaching experience, she's in her 5th year at Marblehead, bringing the knowledge and insights gained from previous roles at Laguna Niguel Elementary and John Malcom Elementary. Her educational journey is rooted in this district, from Palisades to Shorecliffs, culminating in her graduation from San Clemente High School. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from UCSB and a Master of Education in Cross-cultural Teaching/Language and Academic Development from National University. She was celebrated as Teacher of the Year in 2021!

The Joy of Teaching 3rd Grade

Mrs. Heard cherishes the wonder of 3rd grade, where students' love for learning blossoms alongside their academic and social growth. She delights in their humor, zest for life, and the transition from learning to read to reading to learn. For Mrs. Heard, 3rd grade is a pivotal year of transformation and discovery, making it her favorite grade to teach.

What Makes Marblehead Mighty

“We may be small, but we are mighty! The benefit of a smaller school is that teachers have a unique ability to connect with students and parents on a level that most schools cannot do. We are a tight-knit community with dedicated students, teachers, staff, and parents who are committed to making our school amazing.”

Her Advice for Parents

A teacher of many talents, Mrs. Heard, has been known to do the worm and other silly human tricks to engage and inspire. School is not only for learning but a place where her students can feel safe and respected by being themselves. She encourages parents to encourage their child’s individuality! She tells them to embrace their inner dork. A little carrot dangling doesn’t hurt to get that motivation going and also to show that their efforts are recognized.

Wisdom for Students

“Be your unique, amazing self, and always keep a positive, growth mindset! You can do anything you set your mind to. With commitment and dedication, you will achieve greatness. Remember, it’s ok to not know, but it’s not ok to not try. Love yourself, be kind to others, and always try your best. Don’t forget to have fun!”

Life Beyond the Classroom

If she’s not at school, she would like to be at the beach boogie boarding or building sandcastles with her daughters and Marblehead students, Lily and Willow. She has two Golden Retrievers, Sammy Davis Jr., and Dolly Parton, and she helped deliver over 100 puppies when she was younger! Her husband, Will, is a local musician, and you will surely find her singing along in the audience!
